Scachs d’amor is the name of a poem written by Castellví, Vinyoles and Fenollar, which was published in Valencia, Spain, in the middle of an artistic splendour. Its structure is based upon sixty-four stanzas. The match represented in this text is believed to be the earliest recorded document under the modern rules of chess. The poem uses the game as an allegory for love between Venus and Mars.
